ZOE Feeding Projects

"A hungry man is an angry man.” Those were the words of the headmaster of Nyakatsapa United Methodist Primary School in Zimbabwe when we visited with him in May of 2004. He was describing the suffering of the children at his school as he lamented that they no longer had food to offer. In September of 2004, Nyakatsapa became the first site of feeding opened by ZOE Ministry. Since that exciting September day, Dozens of other feeding sites have been opened by ZOE. In the Fall of 2007 our numbers will swell to over 25,000 children being fed regularly in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Kenya. The hunger these children face is difficult for us to imagine. There are images that will forever stay with me: a six-year old girl who at noon at school indicated that she had last eaten the day before; a church leader speaking of people in his area eating tree roots to survive; an eleven year old boy saying his dream in life was to “get enough food to eat...” Jesus taught his church to pray “give us this day our daily bread.” Jesus taught his church to be the answer to that prayer. |
